Christopher Shipp is Counsel in our New York office and a member of the firm’s Markets and Trading practice group. His focus is on negotiation and advice regarding trading documentation, such as ISDA master agreements, foreign exchange prime brokerage agreements, futures and OTC clearing agreements, master securities forward transaction agreements, prime brokerage agreements, lock-ups and repurchase agreements.
Before joining the firm in December 2022, Christopher was a Vice President in the legal department at Barclays in New York, where he negotiated a wide variety of trading agreements on bank’s behalf and served in an advisory capacity within the bank’s Markets Legal Prime Brokerage group. Prior to Barclays, Christopher was an Associate at Morgan Stanley in New York, where he negotiated all manner of trading agreements in both the Fixed Income and Institutional Equity Divisions.
Christopher earned his law degree in 2013 from Pace Law School (now Elisabeth Haub School of Law) in White Plains, NY, attending on a Ruderman scholarship. During law school he developed a deep interest in the financial markets as a member of the Pace Investor Rights Clinic (now Fairbridge Investor Rights Clinic), a pro bono legal clinic which represents investors of modest means in disputes with their brokers and associated persons through arbitration and mediation using the FINRA Dispute Resolution process.
Prior to law school Christopher was a successful musician. He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in music performance and was awarded a post-graduate fellowship to study the saxophone at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel (Brussels, Belgium).
